Graduation...80s style...

Well it's time for my favorite meme.  Alicia over at More than Words is hosting Friday Photo Flashback.  We take photos that aren't digital, scan them...and let the memories begin.

Well it seems I can't get out of 1986...'cause that's where I'm back at today.

Last week we saw...that Bill guy and yours truly at the prom...
This week we highlight...my worst hair nightmare...

My graduation day from high school.
(Insert a proper Pomp and Circumstance song...
not that Vitamin C Graduation Song I keep hearing)

At the last minute I decided to go to a new beauty shop...(mistake No. 1) and use a new stylist (mistake No. 2)...who said I had a lot of bad perm on the end that needed trimming...(mistake No. 3...although if you look at last week's picture...she's right)...so I should let her trim it.
Mind you I couldn't see her own hair since it was under a wig...(that should have tipped me off...but it didn't.)

Well she cut about 2 inches.  I was livid...humiliated...devistated...and anything else a seething 17 year old thinks about.

I kept thinking..."I'm not going to graduation...I hate my hair!  I hate the style!  It's too funky! It's not me"...

Well after my mom told me to "build a bridge"...I got over it and went and had a blast.

Here I am with a group of girls I've known since junior high.

The girl on the far right and I were even in the same 3rd grade class.

And the girl on the left of me just found me on facebook. (I love facebook.)

Have a great Friday!  Blessings.!

Oh my gosh...those are total 80's hairstyles! This could have been one of my pictures..LOL!

Your hair doesn't look bad in the picture, but I know how you feel. Nothing worst than waiting for a bad haircut to grow out!!!

Thank you for sharing again, Lorrie!!!!

I had to laugh...I scrolled down to the photo before I read your post and immediately said to myself "she must have graduated in the mid 80's"...Love the hairstyles, they're a dead give-away. :) By the way, I scrolled further and saw the photo of your son at the piano when he was a toddler - PRECIOUS!!!! :)
Blessings!

I dont care what anybody says, a bad haircut can ruin your day, month and year. I have been there and done that unforunately. I love FB too!

I let a gal cut my hair once without me looking......big mistake. She just didn't do what I asked her and cut way more off than I thought.

It was short and in layers and she just did a number on it. However, it grew back!

I think your hair looks great in the picture!

Our school colors were cardinal and gold (yellow)...And I admit the hair doesn't look bad now...but I was DRAMA! squared...I cried like a baby that morning...my mom really had her hands full. And it didn't make it any better friends kept saying...your hair is different...I'm smiling...but you know sometime we girls are a little "over the top"!
