we really don't get it.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5: 6-8

We'll be electronically free at my house because that's the only way I can get my boys to treat the Easter weekend differently. We do it for Friday and Sunday. No computers for them, no gameboys, no television. My oldest takes it to the extreme...but that's not the point...we do this on "Good Friday" (really Good Thursday) to force ourselves to pause...in an odd way to give up something we cherish. When the novelty wears off around 9:30... complaining settles in. I tell them to grab a bible (sometimes they do...most time not). When they start complaining again, I remind them of what Jesus did for us. It helps me help them focus on Easter.

We plant something...anything in the backyard and talk about death of seed and new lives. Usually Saturday is spent either with friends or family. Sunday morning I do bring out the baskets but I also bring out the Resurrection eggs. They're big enough now where I make them tell me the story. Bill does a devotion (which I asked him this year to have the boys turn into a skit - but he's a preacher so he likes to talk too) and we have cross biscuits (I know silly but we do). We'll be attending church with our church family. With all that said... I do all these activities to give the boys consistent traditions around Easter that hopefully have some spiritual significance.

Now I've got to go and prepare for Sunday so I don't end up being stressed the rest of the weekend. Baskets are done. I need to find dress shoes...shine dress shoes, match socks, make sure Bryson's suit fits him (from his older brother.). Make sure Nathan's suitcoat fits (from his older brother...I hope I can con him to wear it.) Billy is growing like a weed so he's got a new dress shirt. Do my Friday cleaning and for once....wash my car.
Have a blessed weekend and Alleluia. Since I'm not posting until Monday....
Alleluia in advance....
Christ is Risen!

I think that is great how you guys are putting traditions in place for your boys around these important holidays. I think its those things we do growing up, that we never forget and always draw from as an adult.

I hear you with starting to prepare everything early so you are not stressed on Sunday! I was just thinking to myself, "I need to do hair, find dresses, match tights, etc" Even after all that, I'm STILL probably going to have to get up extra early to get everyone out of here on time! God bless you guys!

He is risen indeed! I like the idea of going acoustic to help commemorate the importance of good friday and Easter sunday. I want to maybe do that next year if I remember. Help me remember!

I will. I also go acoustic for a few days in August. That's when we really hit the beach. It's hard but so fun...usually before Billy goes back to school. We're so electronic around here...It's hard. Each boy has a computer (but no internet) in their rooms...handheld games...plus the family room tv and computer...so we have to go "dark" for family sanity. If I didn't do it...they wouldn't have volunteered to go to the crosswalk.
