Doing the fun stuff

B has a big social studies project that's due tomorrow. All weekend he's been doing the creative and fun side of the project. Working on the drawings, making things look very attractive and impressive on the outside. There's just one problem...he hasn't done the actual writing that's suppose to go on the inside on the paper. Now...after school today...instead of having a leisurely afternoon he's going to have to sit down and do the hard work. The part no one really wants to do. The meat of the project. It's funny. I can't blame him...we're all like that. We want to look good on the outside, appear like we've got it all together, but no one really wants to work on the inside - the hard parts. No one really wants to say "Hey Lord, work on the parts of me that are even nasty to myself!" We'd rather play around the subject and focus on encouraging and nice acts of kindness. Nobody wants to work on gossip, slander, lust, greed, and all the other sins we know that take our focus off of God. If B would have worked on the paper more, than the outside would not matter as much. Sure it needs to look good...but the inside would be so great that the outside would just be icing on the cake. Gossip? Slander? Lust? Greed? Bitterness? What sins do you need to ask God to help you not commit today?
