Taming the tongue Tuesday!

(ohhh...this pictures is so perfect for today...)

It's easy to fly into a passion - anybody can do that - but to be angry with the right person

and at the right time

and with the right object

and in the right way...

that's not easy, and it's not everyone who can do it.
-Aristotle

Well taming on our Tongues on Tuesday has been a weekly tradition.
Sadly... I sometimes forget about taming it on other days as well.

Well today I'm talking about electronic taming...
yes...things you'd never say in person...
you'd say in chat,
on social networking sites,
and in email.

I had a friend who had a problem with that on AOL (yes back in the day)...and I sympathized with her...
but secretly I kept thinking...

"why can't she just read what she writes before she writes it..."

Easier said than done...

Then I go and do the same thing ...

not once,

not twice...

but three times!
(Doesn't God like threes? Not those kind of 3s.)

Now I know what she did...

When you become passionate about something...you tend to go on...
and on...and on...
and the devil takes that opportunity to help you slip into sin! Like I did!

The problem with this is...
the more you talk...
the deeper you dig yourself into a hole...
(ok so I make a REALLY big hole...)

and then you have to get out of the hole...
at some point and time.
(it's hard to scratch myself out of there...Praise God for forgiveness)

The problem lies there...you might be out of the hole, you've asked forgiveness all is right with God...the hole remains with the person ('cause they're not God!)
and the devil likes to keep shame in your face...I don't know about you...
but he does that with me.

So I have to purpose myself to speak
Choice words....
even electronically...
not being flippant about what I say...

that way I don't have to back track...
like I've have to do now.
(Well I just did that...but it sounded better in the present.)

Ecclesiastes 5:2
Do not be quick with your mouth,
(but Lord...you know I love to talk...)
do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God.
(ok Lord...didn't I say I love to talk, I'm in a house of non talkers God...can you cut Lorrie some slack here...)
God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.
(um...you'll have to work that one through me God....'cause I need help with that one.)

I don't and can't see the big scope of things...so I have to be VERY careful what I say.

Now for a talker like me...that seems like...boy I can't just "let myself all hang out" around so and so...because I can't say what I want...

We really aren't suppose to "let ourselves hang out...tongues included" around anyone...just God. We're suppose to consider others when we talk.

Ouch...I just stepped on my own foot!

I'm gonna take my bloody toe and go and work on taming my tongue...

Blessings, Peace and Joy!

I think there can be so many misinterpretations when it comes to emails & texting (unless you REALLY know the person on the other end). So, I try to put smiley faces as much as I can..lol.

But, I do know I've said "too much" in the past, and I really try to be careful what I say now.

Romans 12 and 14 are good reminders, too.

Bethany Romans 12 and 14 are excellent reminders...but Romans 14 is such an "advanced" concept for most of us Christians...that takes SERIOUS spiritual insight to do...girl that's meat...I'm still working on digesting nuggets. Praise God I'm progressing....I'm progressing.

Yes I love to talk too and it sometimes gets me in trouble.

But I agree with ALicia. It can be taken the wrong way sometimes. I have to remember to hold my tongue:)

Oh girl, I can relate. I have this post that I really really really want to write. It is all I can do to keep myself from posting it. Seriously -- I keep thinking of different ways I can "say" my point. Should I just say nothing? Should I voice my opinion?!?!?!

God help me keep my mouth shut when I should.
