Taming the tongue Tuesday!

Sometimes taming our tongues...
means training our ears....
and quieting our hearts....

Psalm 4:4
Be angry, and do not sin.

(well God that's hard to do...)

Meditate

(does that mean I can't just vent whenever I want to...)

within your heart on your bed...

(I thought the bed was for watching House Hunters)

and be still. Selah

(ummmm....I am hardly ever still)

Be angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah
Psalm 4:4

What a gem of a verse. When we're in our beds...God wants us not only to sleep...but to meditate on the things of Him while we go off to sleep.
Bedtime is not time to...
...argue with your husband or give him a honey do list.
...argue with your kids or let them know how they failed you today.
...watch junk on the tv or listen to ungodly songs on your ipod.
...laptopping and surfing the Internet.

It's a great place to hold our tongues and prayerfully prepare ourselves for prayer and restful sleep. We need to train ourselves to relax and unwind with....
GOD...
and not with outside influences or our tongues yapping in the wind!

Try this tonight...as will I. (sorry House Hunters...another time)

Blessings!

Happenings update: I'm so excited. I love fall and things are so busy around here...but it's a good busy. I'm back on the "diet" wagon and will be walking with a neighbor this morning. Any other suggestions of squeezing in exercises during my day will be appreciated. I'm more prone to doing things when others suggest them...it's that people pleasing gene...ugghh!

Now that it's been brought to my attention that the bed isn't for watching Hose Hunters, I must do something about it. I'll sit in the chair next to the bed. LOL

Great words of wisdom :)

I love your TTT posts! They get me every time. I'm in a spot with my MIL where I'm trying to decide if I should confront or just stay on my knees and have the Lord handle it....so hard!

Exercise....I used to get the most done on an exercise bike while watching tv. Also, the stair stepper(you could use a board)was amazing for getting in shape. I need to start doing these things again!

If you're preparing something on the stove or microwave and dare not to leave it unattended....
do some push-ups, position yourself
arms length from your counter, steady your feet and start to strenthen that upper body! or you can do side stretches and other body stretches to loosen some muscles that are not normally used.

Keep the things that tempt you in the car trunk. then when you feel that urge, either a) you have to walk all the way out there to get them (exercise!!!!) or you will be too lazy/busy to get them (not eating the stuff!!!) either way, you win!

Oh girl, I could read this every day and still have trouble. Well, I shouldn't speak that over myself! Let me say this, "God help me obey this verse." :o)
