Can you count your blessings?

Sunday.
This Sunday I will worship without fear of being arresting for going to church.

I'll have my pick of bibles to bring with me.  My boys will too!  We'll choose clothes based on the season, the holiday, the VBS theme and wear them accordingly...

sometimes even matching... the majority not.

We won't be hot regardless of the weather outside... conditioned air keeps us cool.

Some of our church family who work in the agricultural warehouses bring in excess produce, strawberries, celery, tomatoes, bananas.  Snacks, coffee and granola bars flow from the kitchen's serving area in between Sunday School and church.

I have all the filtered water I want, iced, waiting...as much as I can drink.

The bathrooms are clean, safe and nearby.

Clean and bright classrooms with comfortable seats for old and young await. My pastor can be heard thanks to technology, as well as the music minister, the pianist, the guitarist and the clarinet.  Choir members sing with powerpoint overhead and I have the option of standing or sitting in a padded chair.

This Sunday we go to church to worship.  We have so many blessings that sometimes we forget the obvious.  Since we live with these blessings day in and day out...it becomes common place... mundane ...

Worshipping the Lord with so many blessing, we might forget to be grateful as we come before him...we have so much...we forget what we have...

Remember the ole' hymn...

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done!

Blessings for the Lord's Day!

Hello Lorrie--Thanks for the visit! It's fun to meet someone with the same name! I've enjoyed my visit to your blog. Your post for today is lovely--so encouraging and so true. We do have so much that we forget what we have. I feel very blessed to have my church here in NC and my church family as well. I try to remember never to take that for granted.
