Remembering Grannie!!!

Well today would have been my mother-in-law's birthday.  Sadly we lost her to breast cancer last August.  We know we'll see her in heaven one day...but we're still grieving.

Anyhoo...I'm using today to celebrate the fun things I enjoyed about my mother in law...

After we got married...she was dying hinting for some grandbabies...so it wasn't a shock when for Christmas that year I received some racy lingerie from her.

She told me..."I'm just giving you a hint." That was Glam-ma!

Her hint worked rather well...She was blessed with my three boys as grandchildren. Regardless of what they did or got into...they could do no wrong in her eyes.  At her house...they ate what they wanted, drank all the soda their tummies could hold and played AOL kids games with abandon!  They had a blast.

Her life wasn't always care free.  My husband's dad turned out to be demonic not a great husband so out he went and in stepped the love of her life...pictured below...
He's wasn't a perfect man...but was her rock and caregiver while her health declined the last two years. (boy I could have used this photo for Flashback Friday.)

My mother-in-law, her beloved, my sister-in-law and my hubby

She loved bible studies and was a member of our "Bad girls of the bible" home bible study in June 2007.  My main motive for having it was I knew she'd come to a house nearby.  She couldn't make it to church...but she could make it across town.

My mother-in-law was comfortable around every ethnic group in sight
...she was Filipina, Latina, black...all rolled up in a caucasian woman.

She also loved flowers and had a bit of a stubborn tenacious streak in her.  If she wanted something...well she was gonna get it.  You can tell that with the big smile on her face while she's trespassing frockling in a sunflower field near her house.

Grannie...we'll miss ya!  Life is just a vapor...we'll see ya soon.

Lorrie, I'm so sorry, I did not know that she had died. She was a pistol and a lovely lady too.

Thanks Joley...I forgot to tell you...OBTW...I'm headed back to Sparks next year...coming back from where I started. I haven't met anyone as organized as you...it will be hard not to say..."Joley did it this way..." because your way was always quick, efficient and made the kids feel special. I use the cross thing around my house for the rooms...and it still works.

Brings tears to my eyes. What a lovely tribute. I know she was so proud to have you as a daughter in law.
I'm sensitive to breast cancer and don't like it. My sister passed away at the age of 38 from breast cancer.
BTW.....You can still use the picture on a Friday :)

She really was a nice lady. I remember when I met her when she watched your kids once. Remember when we came back from the lecture and the kids had destroyed the family room? She just giggled so cute. I know you were mad but you were bitting your tongue. You couldn't say anything because it was grannie. I don't know why you try to keep your house straight. We've got boys, give in to the chaos.
