This weekend...art show and a reason for excess...

Well this weekend was great. More on the art show later, but this is what I noticed coming home from church on Sunday.
I went by the drugstore to get some allergy medicine and who was in front of me in line? It was some guy with two small girls holding two huge cases of beer. He sat in line...counting out his last pennies trying to buy that beer. The guy behind me had THREE cases of beer and a really small red headed boy. He had his shiny gold card out and it looked like he wouldn't have a problem buying his beer.

While I drove through the neighborhood I was met with the smokey smell of bar-b-que, tailgaters, several jolly jumpers on lawns and kids being quite reckless in the street (obviously parents were watching something other than their kids.) I'm not against the big "football game"...but it does seem that we Americans will use anything for an excuse for excess. Am I alone in my observation, overcritical or just a party pooper? I don't think so...I do think we do things in excess while our children look on...take notes...and learn to repeat the situation when they get older.

I love this post~I totally get what you are saying. I do agree adults forget about all of the little eyes that are watching us. Thank you a good honest post!

Isn't that why we're all in this financial mess? We've done things in excess, fed greed and chose to buy beer instead of play with our kids or take time to teach them moderation? Spot on girl.

Hey, just wanted to remind you about the kids storage party Wendy and I are holding tomorrow at shabbynest.blogspot.com Come on over and link up to your post with great kids storage ideas. Girl, I can tell you have your priorities in order and you've got a few tricks you can teach us about putting things in their place! I'll be looking for you! Have a blessed day!
