Take the TV challenge... what are we using for a standard

Has anyone noticed that kids lately have to be superkids. We just can't have "Oh Johnny is shy." He has to be socially delayed or "Ben isn't good at sports." He has to be athletically challenged. As I look at my kids and the kids I know...I'm starting to get sick of all the labels. Why can't kids just be kids?

Well I grew up in the 80s and I know the answer. When I was growing up computer technology was coming of age and the quest for perfection was coming into play. Now the children of that era are adults we still struggle with perfection, for our children, for our cars, homes, everything. We've reduced living to event filled days draggin our over scheduled kids and using the television as our guide to run our lives. I wonder if we turned off the tv and Internet...would we be better off.

Well I'm going to give it a try. I don't think the Internet is as bad as the television...believe it or not. With the Internet you are looking up things of your own interest. TV is giving you what they think you should be interested in. So here I go...no tv...no tv on the Internet (like You tube or Itunes) for the next...let's say 2 days...until Thursday...anyone else up to the challenge? I'm going to turn on the comment box so you can anonymously leave your decision.

The question is...if we turn off the tv...what will you do?

Sounds good. I don't need to watch tv until Grey's Anatomy on Thursday anyway.

Tammy said" I say we go 2 days without all electronic games and entertainment systems. Computer use would only be allowed for homework. I can definitely go 2 days without TV and actually have done it for over 20 years. "

What do you think about that?

-Tammy

Well Tammy - I'm starting out slow...kind of like a nicotine patch. I'll be fine until about 8 p.m. That's when I turn on the boob tube.

Lorrie,
I tried to post a comment but it looks like I would need to set up a blogger account. Am I wrong?

Anyway, I was trying to say in summary, I don't really need tv as long as I am crocheting. More time for me to crochet. No crochet for 2 days ...... that would be a challenge!

HI! Lorrie,

I want to respond to your question if I don't have TV for two days? Piece of cake take my TV for a week no problem! I will have more time to read my Bible and go out witnessing to the lost not to forget I will have time to organize my two storage sheds, house and manicure my front and back lawn. Have a nice evening!

Hugs,
~Eve~
