Taming the tongue Tuesday!

Well today it's Tuesday!
Time for Taming the tongue...

all I can think about is a conversation...

one of our somewhat - active youth had with some friends of her at the lunch table.

They were discussing...
parts...

something 16 and 17 year old "Christian" youth shouldn't be discussing.

They talked... on and on...

laughing and giggling in between crude and rude comments.

The problem was ... a younger girl...a freshmen was sitting there.

She had just started coming to the youth group.
Here she was sitting with these older girls...taking everything in...

not at the church, but at her school campus....
watching these "Christians" talking about things...
even she knew she had no business talking about.

Ephesians 5:4
Let there be non filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

This young girl didn't know this verse...and neither did her mom when
she called me...
shocked that we had youth that would talk like that. (I wanted to say...sometimes it's not the youth but the filthy tv programs their parents watch...but I bit my tongue...)

I told her...it was wrong...I'd speak to the girl...blah, blah, blah,
yes...I know...

Later after I got off the phone... I thought...before I judge...
it would have been better if this 17 year old speech was...

"gracious, seasonsed with salt," (from Colossians 4:6)

but it wasn't...

All I can say is...let's work on keeping our speech...
gracious and seasonsed with salt...

so we don't malign the word of God!

Be careful what you say, and where you say it...you don't know who is listening!

So true. In a multitude of words, sin is not lacking...
