Thanksgiving recap....

Thanksgiving...after celebrating my birthday Tuesday...
it was time for Thanksgiving......
But first...Bry needed a haircut for family pictures....

His barber...aka...my hubby made sure he looked neat and clean...

Dad..."please don't cut too close.."

Let's set the table
...but no china here I used paper plates. After cooking and baking dishes just aren't on the list.

Yes, those are leaves and pinecones from the school yard washed and scrubbed to make my centerpiece FREE.

I was in charge of the desserts (sp. right Bethany),
My sister makes dressing since there is no way I can make it like she does...from scratch...with no add ins.
My brother in law smoked and fried everything in sight...
and my Dad did the sides...(can someone say greens and candied yams)
We opted for turkey parts this year. We needed to make way for ribs, tri-tip and chicken.
My hubby helped by holding down the kids... (which is a great help!)

So oldest wanted help making his apple pie...
(this year I oversaw him, since the "skins-on" apple pie of two years ago)
Well his pie kept us running smoothly that year.

Somehow I slipped in a blueberry pie...since I froze a bag of blueberries this past summer.
They are my weakness.

Sweet potato pies cooling
(I told you my folks are from the south....)

and no I don't make my own crust...
maybe one day I can learn
can you teach me?

My hubby brought the kids a box and boxed them in...keep 'em busy...
we're working in the kitchen.

After all that I forgot to take my group photo.

We had a great and blessed day...and more about my
bleak and cold Black Friday soon...
and yes I'm still working on the "Great surprise" for the Miltons

I hope I can pull it off.

Post script.....
Oh my word...HGTV Dream home is in New Mexico....
Awwww...I've got to win! I LOVE New Mexico.

then I can have Thanksgiving next year in my HGTV dream house in New Mexico...
can you put chili's in sweet potato pies?
I want to win!

Happy a great weekend.

It's nice that your husband is a good barber. I used to cut our kids' hair until one day I accidentally clipped my son's ear. They insisted on professional haircuts after that -- and my son, now 32, still remembers!
