Wineskins!

Oh to be new wineskins....

What keeps us from change?

Comfort.

Predictability.

Sameness...

these all can breed staleness...

sin and pride...

moldy spiritual lives.

Oh Lord

my prayer is to be a new fresh wineskin...

to hold the fruits of the spirit you pour in me...

to hold the living water of your Spirit.

Lord...I can't be a new wineskin...

without taking off the old.

Keeping the sin out.

Focusing on you.

Lord...make me anew

and allow me to obey your change

or lack of it...

as long as I'm in your will

and not mine!

Luke 5: 38-39

He told them this parable: "No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, 'The old is better.' "
