Lord...thank you for...

Well I'm sitting here thinking about summer,  it's activities, and the family schedule (cause we've got to get back to a schedule next week.)
I read "Rocio's" blog this morning and was enjoying her music (although I don't understand all the songs) I still have it on.  Anything with a cumbia (sp?) / latin beat....I'm in!

Anyhoo...Lord thank you for waking me up this morning.  I'm thinking I'm so grateful for things we take so much for granted.  Let's go down the list.

Lord, thank you for US having the ability to read.  Only a few hundred years ago it would have been illegal for me to read or write, and if you're a woman...it would have been considered a waste of time for you to read and write.

Lord, thank you for having the means to have a computer and a roof over my head. I didn't have to think about being too hot or cold while I slept. I, as did you, controlled the temperature in our surroundings last night...not everyone did that.

Lord, thank you for giving us so much food that I'm on a diet to work it all off.  You have blessed us in America and we don't even realize some of the little blessings.

Lord, thank you for a washing machine that's broken.  Without it being broken I wouldn't have realized how EASY I have it normally.

Lord, can I thank you for a new red one in advance?... (ok...I want a new machine.)

Lord, thank you for living where I don't even consider the ethnic group/color of a person when I meet them, my friends and their families come in many colors and shades of.

Lord, thank you for adoption.  I have friends who are GREAT moms and just needed the Lord to provide children in another way.  It's funny how you've worked out THIS particular child with THIS particular family and they fit like a glove.  Lord that's a blessing.

Lord...thank you for your Word.  I have an excess of bibles, different sizes and colors. Somewhere today in another part of the world people are dying because they have a copy of God's word.

I really couldn't think of a verse to write about today or even one coming to my mind...but Lord...I'm grateful for all the blessings you've given me.

How about you?

What are some of the "little" things you can grateful for?

If you're reading this at work...THAT's a big one these days...

Have a great Thursday...blessings.

Your comment about the abundance of food hit home. I was just thinking at Magic Mountain this week about this same thing. I was surrounded by thousands of people (including me) who clearly have MORE than enough to eat, and dozens of food/drink stands to buy more. I think we are amazingly fortunate in this country, and it's backfiring!

Wow...somewhere today, someone is dying for the privilege to read/own a book that, in some households, sits on a nightstand or coffee table gathering dust until church each Sunday. That was the reality check I needed today Lorrie. Thanks.

Isn't it amazing how long the list is when we actually stop to put gratitude in our hearts? We take so many of our blessings for granted. Thanks for the knock upside the head to cause us to slow down and reflect upon our blessings.
