Let us forgive like children

partners in crime...Ney and Bry
(Is Bry hugging or chocking...I'll let you decide...but I'll say hugging since I'm his mom.)
My kids woke up this morning screaming.  Yelling back and forth with a full blown shouting match.  When children are close together in age this second they were cuddled next to each other and like a switch was turned on...they were face to face...nose to nose...yelling.

"Please let me use your Kid Pix." The little one asked...o.k. barely was a yell.
"No.  I don't want you to use it now." The middle one whines back...oh he's drunk with his power alright.
"Give me it!" The little one yells.
"No! If you hit won't use it all day."  He's trying to bait his brother.  It works.

"Moooommmmm.  Bryson hit me with my sword." (It's just a foam sword...don't get scared.)

"Nathan's being stinky...He unplugged his kidpix...That's what he did...I just want to make a train on there...Don't come in....I didn't hit him hard...)

The enforcer walks in. (that would be me)
Until you two stop one's using kidpix or anything else in here.

I left and went to the bathroom. I was in there two minutes...tops.

When I walked out the door...they both came up to me.

"See mom" they're hugging."We aren't mad at each other."

"Mom, Nathan is my best friend." Big dark brown eyes look up at me...trying to pull my heart strings.

"Yeah!  We're not upset anymore...can we have the kidpix back?"

Well I knew that was the incentive...but I didn't know it would work that fast.

Friends...Why can't we forgive like children? One minute they're fighting and the next...they're back together.
My prayer today is Lord...let me forgive like children. Let me cover the offenses of others with love and let others cover my offenses with forgiveness as well.  Sometimes people do things that are hurtful...sometime big and sometimes just a small offense...but me to forgive. May that prayer be in your heart as well.

Proverbs 10: 11 - 12
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.  Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

I was just talking about this with J last night--it was the topic in the girls' devotional book we are doing together. I told her how my hardest time to forgive/not hold a grudge was when someone makes a decision I don't agree with, especially if it negates a decision I've made. I have made a conscious decision just this week to keep working at a friendship with someone I feel is making bad decisions even though in my heart I'd like to just "drop" her.

This is a great post! That's what our pastor talked about last Sunday- the importance of being able to "forgive" as that's what God did for us. It's hard in our own way but by God's grace, that's the only time we can honestly let go of any "grudge" against someone who hurt us. God bless and have a greaet Thursday morning to you.

That picture is precious! My girls do the same thing. You are so right about forgiveness. It can be hard to let go and forgive someone who has wronged us or a loved one. I guess at times it feels like they got away with it if we forgive and forget.
