Fat girl = sin

O.k. I'm using some old words...
profligate

it means to use up resources wastefully, extravagantly on oneself and to squander in excess.

This is what the obese person does with food. The word is usually paired with lack of self control and idleness. We are not to let food control us, we are suppose to control our appetites.

This is truly what the obese/overweight are.
Myself included.
We spend much time eating when we should be doing something else.  We spend time thinking about food.  (I don't think we're suppose to do that.)  We become idle when we're shoving a white-chocolate-mocha-with light whip and a touch of caramel down our throats.
Not that I'd know anything about that.

We're extravagant when we shell out hard earned money on exotic tastes.
Folks might be given to a certain neighborhood Thai restaurant's Watercress Shrimp and Spinach salad with those little sliver of almonds.
Not that I'd know anything about that.

The profligate is known to have no self control in the mind which manifests itself as fat in the body. I'm sure we've all said "No thanks" every time the See's candy lady tries to give you a sample when you've come for a Christmas present...a Christmas present that probably never made it past your coffee table.

I hate to beat us up...but we are so blind to our weight problems.
It's acceptable to be big.  We don't consider it a sin.
We consider it a disease or "I'm only fat because it runs in my family."
Could you say lying or homosexuality runs in your family? Would you say gossiping or adultery runs in your family? (Some of that stuff might run in your family...like it does mine...but that's not what I meant)  Being larger than God wants you to be is just....sin.

The bad thing is it takes twice as much effort to lose weight than it took to put it on.
Sorry that's one of the consequences for sinning with gluttony.

The good thing is God's standards aren't the lustful Hollywood standards of beauty and what he considers a decent weight for each person.  I personally know that Hollywood would like me to lost about 110 lbs.  That way I'd be about a size 7 or 8.  I know that I didn't start feeling convicted about being overweight until I was a size 16...that's only about 70 to 80 lbs.  I know that God's standard for me is to lose a lot less weight than society would have me lose.  If you saw me 80 lbs ago...the carnal fashion obsessed might say that I could stand to lose 20 lbs. But in reality I felt healthy in a size 14 and I was never convicted about being that size in God's eyes.

So there it is.
I'm a profligate.
But prayerfully not for long.

If you struggle with this sin, you can overcome being a profligate too... pray for forgiveness.
when you want to go to excess...let's pray and put it in God's hands.
Blessings.

I struggle as well. Let's just keep working on trying to listen to our bodies.
