A swanky weekend

Last weekend was such a blessing.  My former church matched mentor took me out to lunch for my birthday.  Mind you my birthday was last month...but things were hectic so we scheduled it for last week.  Well we were talking about our "date" in front of another mother I know from church so I asked her to join us.  (You know...He who wants friends must show themselves friendly.)  That brought our group became three.  Well who wants to eat with an odd number.  While talking on the phone to another girlfriend who knows all the restaurants in town (since I couldn't decide where to go)...I ended up inviting her too and that made four.  We had a blast.

My mentor, Ms. Martin (she doesn't use her first name at work so I'm continuing the tradition) took me to Aloha Seafood restaurant and we all laughed and laughed.  When was the last time you laughed?  She gave me some seriously useful gifts...including a canvas (hint, hint) and paint brushes (I guess those are more hints, Lord) and some other nice stuff.  After we finished dinner...we all drove to the Cross area of Ventura, took some quick pictures and then headed for the Coffee Bean.  I felt like I was really out and about.  For a stay at home mom...I felt I sure am getting out quite a bit.  I called B. several times to check on the kids and they were making all sorts of unauthorized foods and leaving a tornado in their path.

We decided that we need to have more outings and my friend Janette and I confessed that we have outing often...it's just in the "hood" part of LA...where we can get fish sandwiches for $4 bucks and hang out in the hood.  Anyhow...what a great way to end the week.   It's great to have folks who fear the Lord around you.  Psalm 119:63 says "I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts."  Thanks again...Ms. Martin...the day was quite "swanky"!
